A man who lived in a large jar told Alexander the Great to get out of his light. Book Six is the Cynics: Antisthenes, Diogenes of Sinope, Crates and Hipparchia, philosophers who argued by insult and demonstration and treated Athens as a target. Laertius kept the sayings, the scandals and the punchlines, and he is very nearly the only reason we have any of them.
