The great novelist went on a yacht cruise to Iceland and wrote the trip up as a favour to his hosts. Trollope sailed north in 1878 with a party of friends and reports the geysers, the ponies, the hospitality and the volcanic strangeness of the place with his usual amused good sense. The least likely travel writing in his entire catalogue.
